WEB DESIGN

If you want your presence on the web to be successful there are a few key questions you should try and address before you consider design ethics.

The first and most obvious question is: Do I really need a web site?

This may sound a bit odd but you need to consider this before progressing any further. Large or complicated web sites can be expensive and time consuming to develop so it makes sense to know why you are going down this route. It has been common in the past for clients to think that they need to have a web site just because everyone else has one. There must be a distinct reason for having a web site. Some common examples are:

We will work with you to establish why you need a web site. The "why" factor is fundamental to how the site will be designed and the content to be displayed. This preparation and planning is by far the most important part of the web design process, if we get this right than the rest is easy!

We work with you every step of the way in developing your online presence. The development process looks something like the following:

1. Initial consultation - To discuss initial ideas, find out about the project and share thoughts to discover roughly what things costs and what's possible. For us to find out a bit about you and for you to find out a bit about us!

2. Agree brief and and quote - We will prepare a brief that outlines all the work we will be undertaking and provide you with an estimate of what the work will cost and when the work will be completed.

3. Site and goal planning - We will discuss the goals of the site, work out the primary objectives of the site and what technologies we will need to achieve them. Once we have decided this we will then move on to discuss layouts, colour schemes and a basic site map.

4. Mock up - We will provide you with a rough mock up of an example page including menu systems, colour schemes and graphics. From here we can adjust the site to meet your requirements before moving forward with the design

5. Working draft - We provide you with a working draft of the site so you can have a look how the pages are arranged and how the navigation will work.

6. Content added and final draft - All your text, photos and media are added to the site to create a working web site which you can review.

7. Final changes - Any final changes needed from the review of your final draft will be made. And your working web site will either be uploaded to our server and published or provided to you on a CD rom ready for you to upload to your own servers.
